Policy
Each year program options will be determined by community and agency data.
Head Start Center Base part day classes will operate four days per week, for a minimum of three and one-half hours a day. The program will operate at least 128 days per year of planned class operations.
Head Start Combination will operate class two days a week, for a minimum of three and one-half hours a day and twice a month home visits. the program will operate at least 60 days per year of planned class operations and 17 home visits.
Head Start and Early Head Start Full Day / Year classes will operate five days per week, 7:30am-5:30pm, year round.
Early Head Start Home Base will operate weekly home visits, and parent-infant and toddler socialization groups twice a month. The program will run on a yearly basis.
Early Head Start Combination will operate a weekly toddler socialization group and twice a month home visits. The program will run on a yearly basis.
The minimum length of day does not include transportation time. Program options must meet the needs of children and families as indicated by the community assessment.
Procedure
- A program calendar will be developed yearly to ensure the appropriate number of operating days is met.
- Class days missed due to the program closing the site for unforeseen reasons will be made up to ensure each child and family receives the required number of contact hours for the program option that family is enrolled in.
