Position Purpose

Support Operations Director in day to day operational and administrative functions of the Facilities Department. Schedule and provide routine and/or emergency repairs and maintenance of facilities, grounds, equipment, remodels and installations. Prioritize and schedule support services such as transporting materials/furnishings related to staffing changes, re-locations and expansion of facilities and training or event set ups. Schedule, direct and oversee Facilities Assistants in the absence of Operations Director.

Essential Job Responsibilities – Performance Indicators

Facilities Department Support ( 35%)

  1. Assist preparing and coordinating job bids, repair costs, estimates and meet with contractors upon request.
  2. Assist in coordination of facility construction, renovations and playground development.
  3. Assist in ensuring facilities/equipment is appropriately maintained. Schedule and coordinate repairs with subcontractors (electrician, plumber, locksmith, etc.)
  4. Assist in coordinating/scheduling Facilities Assistants in day-to-day facilities operations.
  5. Assist in oversight and direction of Facilities Assistants.

Facilities & Grounds Maintenance & Repair (50%)

  1. Perform and oversee minor repairs and/or replacement of plumbing fixtures, valves, and other devices and determine when a licensed plumber is needed.
  2. Coordinate moving office furniture, fixtures and equipment within and between sites to support staff changes, relocations, remodels and program expansion.
  3. Perform minor repairs and/or replacement of electrical fixtures, devices and appliances and determine when a licensed electrician is needed.
  4. Perform routine maintenance of all heating and ventilation systems.
  5. Perform and oversee minor painting and drywall repairs.
  6. Provide routine inspections of interior and exterior areas and follow up to insure areas are free of safety hazards, trash, weeds and other foreign materials etc.
  7. Coordinate/schedule Facilities Assistants in regular maintenance and upkeep of outside areas, including lawns, landscaped beds, play grounds and parking lots, to include weeding, mowing, landscape bark application, trash and litter removal and other duties as required to keep areas clean and neat.
  8. Coordinate/schedule repair, maintenance, upkeep, moving & transport of playground structures.
  9. Complete safety checklist once per month at each site.

Material, Equipment, Supplies & Miscellaneous (15%)

  1. Schedules transportation and delivery of supplies to sites
  2. Complete daily pre-trip van checklist.
  3. Responsible for training event and special event set-ups.
  4. Attend meetings and trainings as required or recommended by supervisor.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.
  6. Respond to on-call after hours facilities and maintenance emergencies. Emergency Call Back pay, (per current labor contract) applies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Three years of related work experience which includes at least one year lead/job supervision work experience.
  • Certification or license in building trades desirable, electrical/plumbing/carpentry etc.
  • Must have scheduling flexibility to perform occasional after hours emergency services.
  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License.
  • Employment contingent upon the results of the following:
    • Enrollment in Child Care Division- Central Background Registry
    • DMV check
    • Drug Screen
    • Physical Capacity Examination

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge and skill in repair and maintenance of equipment, minor plumbing, minor electrical, furniture, fixtures, facilities systems, grounds and structures and use of tools common to the trades.
  • Ability to prepare bids and project management, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to read and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Daily lifting up to 70lbs, to load and transport bulk supplies, furniture, fixtures etc.
  • Occasional lifting of over 70lbs., with assistance.
  • Daily standing for periods of several hours while executing various tasks.
  • Regular crouching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling etc. to facilitate various repairs and maintenance activities. Includes frequent ladder climbing and occasionally crawling under buildings.
  • Regular reaching, including over-head to stock & retrieve supplies, equipment, painting, repairs etc.

Position Information

  • 52 weeks per program
  • Pay Grade 11 (Bargaining Unit)
  • Supervised by Operations Director
  • Work conditions, outdoors in all types of weather and indoors in varying conditions, dust, dirt, handling of chemicals, paint and other semi hazardous materials etc.
