The Essential Elements of Teaching Dual Language Children and Supporting Their Families in the Learning Process

Wed, Oct 5, 2022 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Educators must understand how children learn language, find ways to honor home languages, and promote the learning of second languages to properly support dual language learners (DLLs). They also must support families’ goals and collaborate with them. During this webinar, we’ll explore ideas for supporting the development of children’s first and second languages. The presenter will share ideas from her book Dual-Language Learners: Strategies for Teaching English (Birth to Grade 3).
Objectives:
– Understand the development of first and second languages in young children so you can provide a stimulating linguistic environment that supports DLLs’ language development.
– Discover techniques for using language in the classroom to support DLLs’ language acquisition.
– Acquire strategies for supporting families of DLLs to help their children become bilingual.
