Dual language learning is multifaceted. Both monolingual and bilingual educators must intentionally support and honor the home language of dual language learners (DLLs) as they acquire English language skills. The presenter will provide helpful, practical tips and tools from her book, Dual Language Learners: Strategies for Teaching English (Birth to Grade 3), to help you honor and support the home languages of all children in your classroom.
Objectives:
– Understand that both monolingual and bilingual early childhood educators can support home languages for all children to help them reach their full potential.
– Explore techniques to support and honor home languages in multilingual classrooms to facilitate positive child outcomes and the educational success of all children.
