Situational Awareness is being aware of the things you can see, hear, feel, smell and taste (using your senses), and determining if there is a threat.  It is the process of looking for warning signs, being aware of your environment, and discerning if something is a threat or not a threat.  It’s the ability to process and use your senses to identify a threat and to respond to it in real time.  We will apply this concept to working in various Head Start environments.

Please attend with your region.  Staff not associated with region are welcome to attend via Microsoft Teams.

AM Session, 8:30-11:30am, Whiteaker Gym, Regions 3, 4, 5, 8 & 9.
PM Session, 12:30-3:30pm, Whiteaker Gym, Regions 1, 2, 6, 7 + Central Reception

This topic will give examples of potential threats to our environment and how to respond appropriately.  We ask that you take care of yourself and your needs, as it has potential to be a heavy topic. Please know that all staff have access to Cascade Health Employee Assistance Program and we are also identifying if a mental health consultant might be available on site to debrief with individuals. Please also note that this is not a forum to discuss the politics surrounding gun laws and violence, nor will there be time on the agenda for it to be included.
