Synopsis:
Racism and ableism are not usually addressed in early learning programs, but they should be! Educators must use teachable moments to address diversity and differences in ability as they create learning environments and develop curricular approaches that reframe our beliefs and norms in early childhood programs. Join our webinar to gain an understanding of intersectionality and its impact on equity and inclusion in early childhood special education.

Objectives:
– Acquire an understanding of racism, ableism, and how they intersect to become more culturally responsive while working with young children and avoid drawing conclusions based on the dominant cultural beliefs and norms in the classroom.
– Understand the key tenets of inclusion—access, participation, and supports—to offer all children in early learning classrooms equitable opportunities to learn.
– Develop an action plan for at least one next step to engage in the inclusion process in your education role.
