The UO class have been exploring APPLE’s this week . They talked about the different types of apples, and where apples come from. During the mini study they washed apples in the sensory water play, and painted with apples in art activates. They even had a taste test to sample different kinds of apples, finding out which they liked best.
They peeled and sliced apples to make “applesauce.” As a class they discussed the ingredients in the recipe and gave everyone a chance to taste apple slices before the cooking process. They even had cinnamon spice on hand for everyone to smell as it was added to the pot!
They talked about how the apple peeler was used to peal the skin off the apples before taking out the seeds and putting them in the pot to cook. The class prepared the applesauce recipe during their breakfast mealtime and then it was ready to eat during lunch. The children enjoyed the cooking project and all the different kinds of apples we have explored this week.
