Dear Colleague,

Houston, and the surrounding areas in South Texas, have been devastated by Hurricane Harvey and now the storm is moving into parts of Louisiana. Thousands have been left without homes or even shelter, and thousands more need to be rescued. Our Head Start children, families, and their communities are among those thousands and we are actively working to support them.

NHSA has a Disaster Relief Fund to assist our Head Start and Early Head Start programs who become victims of natural disasters and today we are putting out a call for help - join us in being part of our colleagues’ efforts to rebuild their programs and their communities.

This rebuilding will take months, if not years. But our work will start today! If your program was not affected, please make a donation to the NHSA Disaster Relief Fund. The fund is intended to normalize a program’s operations, and help families, staff, and children get back on their feet. Funds are disbursed based on need and are used for expenditures that can not be reimbursed through other relief programs.

What I love most about Head Start, is how we never seem to fail each other in times of need. We unite without question and take action when called upon. If you were affected, please know that we are doing everything we can to support your recovery. And if you were not affected, I know you will do everything you can to support our Head Start family.

In partnership,
Yasmina Vinci
