Whiteaker 5 had a busy day experimenting with sailing the boats they made and then they went on a walking field trip to the park. Once at the park the rules of where to play were shared and children went to all areas. In the sandbox was a digging toy. Kids took turns, counting to 20, then the next would try to pick up sand and dump it. It took coordination and hard work to get it to work the way they wanted. In the field duck-duck-goose was played. Kids are FAST! Others made necklaces and chatted it up.

Other children and parents watched and listened with kids finally joining in, mingling in like it was natural for them to be with us. I found it more interesting that the children didn't play on the slide equipment - around it, but not on it. It was a warm day, maybe it was hot.

Volunteer George extended a lesson on transportation by making the boats to helping sail the boats. George comes everyday to be extra help. He picks books from the library to read to the class and adds a calm presences to the class and is a great conversationalist.

Thank you George for being so giving of your time.
